Rainbow Ink Backgrounds and Stamps

Image
Hi! Today I am sharing my video for the rainbow stamping technique, and all the images and backgrounds I made using the same technique. My video is linked here . It shows all the techniques, supplies and inks I used, as well as tips and tricks to use all the extra ink you are left with on your stamps or inking sponges. Please head to my video to see the technique as it is much easier to show and tell than type! These are images that I stamped a few months ago when trying out this inking technique, and they are what inspired me to re-visit the technique this week and stamp a batch of images that I could use as thank you or encouragement cards during the global pandemic. Rainbows have been a symbol of hope and thanks during this strange time, so I felt some bright cheery cards using rainbows would be a nice thing to make at the moment to cheer people up. Both the lady and unicorn images are stamped with Catherine Pooler Designs Premium Dye Ink Pads, but this technique should work with m

Altenew Modern Blooms magazine box set Volume 1

Image
Hi, Today I am going to do a review of the new Altenew Modern Blooms magazine box set Volume 1, along with making three cards and using the stamps, dies and stencil that come in the box set. I do a full start to finish demo of all three cards in my Youtube video that you can find linked here . If you don't like chatting on videos, feel free to mute me (I won't be offended) and listen to your own music, I have added captions for most of the information.   I tried to use minimal supplies, except for what came in the box set, so if you are new to Altenew, or layering stamps, you could see what you would need to get the most out of your magazine kit. This is everything I used, except for basic tools and card stock/ card blanks, and the dies that came with the magazine, which I missed out of the photo!  If you are new to layering stamps, you will need inks in three or four different shades of the same colour to use these stamps in the classic layering way that they are originally ma

VE Day Pennant with Creative Stamping Issue 84 'Best of British'

Image
Hi, So in honour of VE Day I thought I would create a quick banner pennant to hang up. Most of the celebrations will be 'stay at home' style rather than the huge garden and street parties that had been at the planning stages before lockdown. I managed to get rain on it when I brought it inside! I was waiting for better light for a photo, so excuse the raindrop at the top! I have a subscription to Creative Stamping magazine, and they came up trumps with their 'Best of British' stamps that are in their current magazine. All the supplies I used. If videos are your thing, heres a link 'VE Day Pennant' to the whole creative process on my youtube channel. If words are your thing, here's what I did: I started with some white stamping card and cut a pennant shape with an old Xcut scalloped triangle pennant die - you could easily cut your own pennant shape out if you don't have a die in this shape. I used the stencil to ink the union flag onto

Update on where I have been, and my 'rebranding'.

Hi! I have been a bit quiet for a while for lots of reasons. Last May, we got a new rescue dog, so I spent time getting her trained and friendly with our existing dog. I spent most of last summer getting my two girls ready to change schools, not usually such a huge task, but my eldest was off to a boarding school for the first time, and the amount of kit you need to label is staggering, especially for a 13 year old who is quite image conscious! I was also really active on PTAs at my girls old schools, so I had to transition a lot of these things to new people as my girls have both left their old schools. I then spent the latter half of last year converting the garage to my new craft room, and then making my old craft room back into a proper guest room for my parents to use when they come to visit - they are getting a bit old for a sofa bed! Of course we all know what has been happening in the early part of 2020 with a worldwide pandemic. I am pretty lucky that my kids are old enough
